Grogan- Anyone know if he's still in that band or did he get the boot? I wonder (again, does anyone know?) if his bandmates knew his past. I was recently reading the post about it on mansonfamilytoday and agree that he really got off easy. Why were others tried and convicted of crimes that he skated on? Even that short little interview on brets site kinda shows his sneaky side.
I just read Desert Shadows again and decided it's also a good book. There seems to be some misinformation, but what book on the case doesnt? But it also has some pretty good stuff too. Just kinda showing some of the Death Valley days in a different light. He also mentions that when Sue Bartell was caught she had a list on her of 40 names and phone numbers. Wouldn't you love to see that list? What became of her? Did Nelson track her down, I forget.

Did you happen to read Miss Atkins' first book, Child Of Satan, Child Of God?
In it she describes an episode on death row. She was estranged from her family (her father wanted nothing to do with her), she was estranged from The Family, she was being ostracized by her fellow death row inmates, and of course she was facing the gas chamber. In spite of this, she was still defiant, as were the other girls.
She freaked out one night. She screamed for the guard to let her out of her cell and out to the yard, which he did. And she was in the process of having a nervous breakdown. Gypsy talked her out of it. What was actually happening is that she was coming down from her Manson addiction. Remember Paul Watkins had said that they all became Charlie. She probably more than anyone. The 2 other girls eventually crashed too, but Susan was the first to renounce Manson, and did so publicly.
These girls really were addicted to him, imagine how painful it was coming down from that in that environment. So, she was isolated from the whole world, her identity in shambles. In that situation, I have no doubt that her conversion was real. But the common misperception is that converts become perfect souls. Simply untrue. St. Peter denied Jesus Christ as he was being led away to crucifixion. Her conversion can not be judged by her subsequent behavior, human passions are difficult to overcome.
